Superman

I both liked -and wasn’t a fan- of the newish Superman movie. It was fun, action packed, and had that little bit of romance, but there were a few things that just stuck me wrong. Not that they were bad enough to make the movie bad! The quality was good, and so were actors. Over all, I’d probably give it a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. It’s was actually the background for the characters -of all things- that really threw me off.

This so called background is basically non-existent. Being a story writer myself, this just really bothered me. If you knew absolutely nothing about Superman, and watched that movie, you would most likely be super confused. It was just a leap into the middle of Superman’s life; no explanations, background, no anything. Which leads me to another thing I wasn’t super big on.

When I watch a movie like this, I want to know more about the MC’s* childhood, not just to watch some random adult -who can fly- save the world. I want to grow attached to them and to watch their character as a person grow. I know it’s a silly thing to critique, but it was something that bothered me.

Circling back to the background thing, I was kind of sad that some of the more important sideline characters didn’t get a good rounded out character. Again, one of these things where if you didn’t know who they were before, you aren’t going to know through this movie.

That was really the only two big things that bothered me. In all, the movie was decent for a modern day film. I would love to know what those who have also watched the movie thought of it! Did you love it, hate it, or are you somewhere in between? As I’ve stated many times, I personally don’t love or hate it. XP
