Books Read In October!

I did not include graphic novels or school books

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee 4/5 stars. It was actually pretty good, not at all what I was expecting. It was so lighthearted and fun, but also had some heavy stuff. It did have some mature stuff, but it wasn’t to bad. This was the first book to the Montague Siblings series.

Cloaked in Beauty by Karen Witemeyer 4/5 stars. This is the third book to the Texas Ever After series, and it’s just such a happy read. This is my third time reading it, I think, and just SO good! It has just enough drama to keep the story going, but not so much that I can’t listen to it anymore. It’s not as good as the first one, which is why it has 4 stars, not five. XP

The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee 5/5 stars. Even better than the first book in the series! This is the second book Montague Siblings series, and I loved it. It had such strong feminine roles. Surprisingly, it didn’t have really any mature content, which I was not expecting after reading the first

The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy 4/5 stars. I actually enjoyed this one! School free reads can sometimes be a bore, but this one wasn’t. I totally knew who the Scarlet Pimpernel was, only a few chapters in.

Wild Is The Witch by Rachel Griffin 4/5 stars. This one has been on my want to read list for sometimes, and I finally picked it up. It was a struggle for me in the beginning, but it was good when I got into it! The story was well plotted, and the ending was sad but beautiful.

The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by Mackenzi Lee 3/5 stars. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first two on the Montague Siblings series, but it was still good! One main thing it featured, was the main characters struggle with severe anxiety, and grief. The guy was so sweet and unsure, but he became stronger as he went through his adventures. Also, his romance with his betrothed was just SO sweet. *insert heart emoji* It had like zero mature content.

The Ladies Rewrite the Rules by Suzanne Allain 4 and a half/5 stars. This book had very strong female rights, and roles. So much old century drama and the ladies just trying to break out of the small cage they were entrapped it. Just lovely.

Creepy Cat, Vol. 1 by Cotton Valent 2/5 stars. This was the first manga I’ve ever read! It was okay, but kind of confusing. (not because it was the first manga I’ve read though) I might look into the other volumes, jut to see what it’s about. Again though, it was kind of confusing, so I might not.

The Ancient Magus Bride, Vol. 1 by Kore Yamazaki 4/5 stars. I really enjoyed this one! I stayed up late, and read it all in one night because I couldn’t put it down. I really can’t wait to get the next book from the library!
