Books Read In June!

(I had this all typed out before my trip, but apparently I never hit publish. 😭)

Y’all, I read so much this month. 😅

Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte 5/ stars. Just breathtaking. Full of astounding twists, beautiful moments, and heart pounding cliff hangers. This book was a rollercoaster of exactment; it broke my heart into a million pieces, and then carefully pieced it back together. I am absolutely in love, and will totally be reading this again at some point. The characters, the plot, the emotion; all have been written with so much depth. I applaud.

Beauty Reborn by Elizabeth Lowham 5/5 stars. Another book that I am absolutely in love with. This one’s a bit more on the sad side, but I still love it so much. The MC is raped before the beginning of the book, but the author doesn’t ignore it, or try to make it lighter than it is. No, the author sticks to the truth; even if it’s a painful truth. The book is a beauty and the beast retelling, but is mostly the MC’s healing journey, and it is just beautiful. (This is the one I would like to do a book review on.)

When We Were Lost by Kevin Wignall 5/5 stars. This one was just full of suspense, and exactly what I was looking for at the time. It was also devasting. So much loss, and painful heartbreak. I wanted to give each one of the characters a long hug, and a big batch of chocolate chips cookies. Definitely an example on when an author traumatizes characters. lol

Apparently I really liked a lot of the books I read this month, because I’ve given quite a few 5 star reviwes. XD

Demon in the Wood: Graphic Novel by Leigh Bardugo 3.5/5 stars. Pretty decent, and lovely illustration. The story was a bit confusing, but that is probably because it’s based off of a book series I haven’t read. 😛 Even with that, the plot was really enthralling! Now I really want to read the series -Shadow and Bone.

The Librarian of Auschwitz: Graphic Novel by Salva Rubi & Antonio Itrube 3/5 stars. It was alright. I really have nothing to say other than that. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

First Test: Graphic Novel by Devin Grayson & Tamora Pierce 2/2 stars. This might sound a bit petty, but there was just to much writing in this one. 🤣 I can’t stand it when a graphic novel has as many words as a book. If I wanted to read that much, I would read the book it’s based on. Other than that, it was a pretty good story.

Caraval (Caraval #1) by Stephanie Garber 5/5 stars. I absolutely adore this book. It’s mystical, and full of beauty. I’ve read it quite a few times, but this time I’m actually reading the second book. XP Anyways, this books will always be one of my top favorites. I also hope to buy a pretty copy of Caraval this year. (come on saving!)

The Witches by Roald Dahl 3/5 stars. I read this one with my younger brother, and it was a nice break. It’s a juvenile fiction, so a bit different from my normal books. It was crazy, and so wild that some things were just unbelievable. The narrator for this one was also really good, helping to liven up the story. One thing though, if you watch the movie, be prepared. It’s not a child friendly as the book.

Aurora: Graphic Novel (Vol. 1) by Red 2.5 stars. Another one where I had a problem with how wordy it was. XD Other than that, I actually really liked it, and I feel like it would make a really good TV show.

Magus of the Library Vol. 1-4 by Mitsu Izumi an average of 3.8/5 stars. I can’t believe I pushed off starting this series so long. It’s just AMAZING. I love the plot, the characters, and art. Volume 1 is probably my favorite so far, but all of them are so good. It’s also just such a soothing read. If you love books, I totally recommend reading it.

Legendary (Caraval #2) Stephanie Garber 5/5 stars. I have so many mixed emotions upon finishing this book. Distress, wonder, excitement, and a worry for what book 3 will contain…

The Inheritance Games (The Inheritance Games #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes 5/5 stars. This one was a reread where I decided to tab all my favorite quotes, and scenes. It was fun, but also a bit tedious. I wish I could read this book for the first time again. T.T I love the story so much though; it’s definitely another one of my top favorites.

Sir Gibbie by George MacDonald 3/5 stars. It was pretty good. I loved seeing Gibbie grow from a sweet innocent child, to a sturdy and wonderful young man. What I was not at all expecting though was his marriage. All I can think is, what about poor Donald?

Last, but most certainly not least!

The Thing with Feathers by McCall Hoyle 4/5 stars. This one a good light read. It’s about a girl with epilepsy who is trying to live a normal life, while also be able to move on from her fathers death 3 years ago. I feel like it could have been better emotionally, but I stilled liked it.
