Books Read In April!

The Spoken Mage Series (4 books) by Melanie Cellier an average of 4/5 stars. This series was a good one! It’s not my favorite or anything, but it was well thought out and written. The main romantic couple was not something you’d suspect in the first book, but in the end, you can tell how perfect they are for each other. My favorite book out of the series was number #4; Voice of Life. It was beautiful, traumatic, and had a happy ending.

The Golden Compass (#1) by Philip Pullman 4/5 stars. This one really jumped right into the drama and action; kidnapped children, raging bears, and poison attempts. All very crazy. It wasn’t bad, but I don’t think I’ll ever read it again. The only reason I’m even continuing to read the whole series is because I’m reading it with my brother. lol One of the things I disliked the most was the age of the characters. The MC did so many things, and acted in such a way that it was really hard to remember that she’s only like 10. I think the book could have been better if she was older.

The Sublet Knife (#2) by Philip Pullman 3/5 stars. I liked this one even less than the first one. -_- It’s the second time teh author kills a beloved character.

The Davenports by Krystal Marquis 3/5 stars. I was so looking forward to this book, but no, just no. I can’t even begin to express how disappointed I am. It was good at first, but the deeper you get into it, the more frustrating it gets. The lovers never have any peace, the parents are controlling -but call it having their children’s best interests in mind-, and all of the relationships just feel toxic. I want a happy ending, not a bunch of stress. My life has all the stress I need, I don’t need my readings adding onto it. It even ends of a major cliff hangar, with absolutely no peace. I’d love to know how it ends, but I just can’t handle reading the second book.

The Shadow Queen by C. J. Redwine 5/5 stars. The BEST book I’ve read all month. It’d been on my want to read list for years, but I’d just never gotten to it until now. And omigosh I’m so glad I did. There were some moments when I couldn’t handle the bad things happening, but the over all book is amazing. The MC is so strong, and handles so much pain. Yet she never lets it turn her bitter. I’m absolutely in love; please read this one!

Villains are Destined to Die, Vol. 1-4 by SUOL and Gwon Gyeoeul an average of 5/5 stars. No judging please. XP It was a fun graphic novel/manga (I’m not sure which to call it) to read, and I’m in love. It’s diffidently a candy book, but it’s an amazing candy book. I’m waiting on the rest of the series from my Library!

I did read a few other random manga during the month, but I will not be including them. XP
