He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree -Roy L. Smith
Christmas is my absolute favorite Holiday. I love getting to see my family. Members that I both do and don’t see a lot. We get to hang out, eat good food, and be family. I love it. Christmas brings me so much joy, it’s the day are savoir was born, and a day we get to give gift to make joy. Receiving gifts isn’t to bad either. 😉
I already got my best Christmas gift this year. My baby girl Violet. (My mom even said she would warp Violet in a big red bow on Christmas morning.) She is such a big sweet heart and I love her with all my heart. I know we are going to have some pretty awesome years through out her life. My mom even said she would warp Violet in a big red bow on Christmas morning. Just thinking about the adventures and happy time we are going to have makes my throat close up with tears of happiness and joy. That kind of happiness that is just so beautiful. The kind of happiness you get when you hear a beautiful heartfelt song. The one that gives you goosebumps, and makes you want to cry.

Speaking of songs… ARE YOU READY FOR IT?

That song is for all the Hunger Game lovers out there! Also if you didn’t catch on it’s meant to be sung to the tune of The Twelve Days Of Christmas. XD I was going to try and recorded it but…
My favorite Christmas song is probably Carol Of The Bells. Not sure what version/who I would chose. Maybe Lindsey Sterling? I really like her music. Defiantly listen to her during the Christmas season!
Remember when I said I would share some of my writing? Well here we are! I wrote this story for a short story writing competition I’m in. It’s not my best work.. So please don’t judge to harshly. 🙂
*DON’T READ IF YOU BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS*
Ten-year-old Michael trudges through the deep north pole snow. After lots of work he had finally made it. Despite what everyone had said. Despite his brother’s words. He had made it. He had made it, and he was going to prove them all wrong.
He pauses to gulp in air. The snow was deep and walking through it was hard on his little boy legs. Big boy. He corrects himself. Only a big boy could sneak out of his house to the north pole. Only a big boy could prove his family wrong. Only a big boy could do what he was about to do.
As he gulps in air his mind drifts back to the event that had led him here…
A week earlier,
“What are you up to?” Michaels older brother -Jake- asks. Ruffling ten-year-old Michael’s hair.
Michael swats his brother’s hand away. “I’m writing my letter the Santa Claus!”
Jake shakes his head. “You’re still doing that?? I can’t believe mom and dad haven’t told you yet. They told me when I was seven.”
“Told me what?” Michael asks. Carefully capping his marker and setting it down. Before he turns to face his older brother, who is spread out on the couch.
A secretive look engulfs Jakes face. “I probably shouldn’t tell you…” He whispers.
“Tell me what?” Michael whispers back, totally caught up in whatever his brother was about to tell him.
“Well, you see… It’s about Santa Clause…” Jake drawled.
Michaels eyes light up. “What about him?” Jake pauses, taking his time to answer his brother.
“He’s not real.”
As soon as the words are out of Jakes mouth Michael shoots up. His face full of anger. “HOW DARE YOU!!” He bellows. “Why would you say such a thing?!??! Of course, Santa is real.” Michaels eyes well with tears. How could Jake be so mean.
“Jake!” Their mom shouts, as she hurries out of the kitchen. “What did you do to your brother?” She demands. Mom will fix this. She’ll tell Jake he’s wrong.
Jake adopts an innocent face. “I was just telling him the truth about Santa.”
His mothers face falls, and she looks like all of her rage has been sucked out of her. She turns to Michael with a regretful face.
She gathers him up in her arms. “I suppose you were going to find out sooner or later.”
He looks at her, confused. What was going on? He pushes out of her arms. “What are you saying mom?”
“Your brother was telling the truth sweetie. Santa doesn’t exist.”
Current time,
Michael straightens. They were both liars. And he was about to prove it. For the first time ever, he was going to give the world proof that Santa existed.
He continues on, following the map an elf had given him. He believed she was an elf anyway. She had pointy shoes and ears and wore a Christmas hat. She had told him that this map would lead him to Santa’s workshop. And he was getting close.
He pauses to take a deep breath as he looks at the hill in front of him. All he had to do was reach the top, the truth was so close.
His heart stops as he crests the hill. he falls to his knees. Disbelief and grief overwhelming him.
“NOOOOO!” He screams, his voice echoing in the emptiness. He beats his fist on the ground. “No, no, no, no.” This couldn’t be right, they couldn’t be right. His eyes start to well with tears and pain.
But they were. His family had been right. All of them, his brother, his mother, his grandfather. They had all been telling the truth. His heart squeeze’s painfully. Tears start streaming down his face, he curls up into a ball rocking back and forth as sobs rack his body. He pulls at his hair as his heart beats faster. They had told the truth. Santa wasn’t real. Christmas was all a lie.
The prompt was grief, and Christmas was coming up so… Yeah, I know, it’s kind of a weird story, but. 🤷🏽♀️
I’d also like to apologize right now for this post being all over, the place. I couldn’t settle on one thing so I decided to do them all! XD Which reminds me. If you have a something (Book, movie, cooking, etc.) that you would like me to do a post on, let me know!
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!
